Should be no surprise at this point, but keeping up with social media is difficult for me. Fell in and out of a couple of fandoms, did my first Art Fight, and started a HUGE new project. I'll post a more 'official' announcement with links and everything at more acceptable internet hours XD But given that I've been particularly neglectful of Tumblr and the community here, figure I should do a quick run down and share some of the art and such. So for the last couple years, I've been working with @cryophase [friend, writer, and general cool person] to create this sci-fi/supernatural/post apocalyptic story, ARES FOLLY

This is Adric. He's a struggling artist with daddy issues who's just trying to survive on an deserted alien world. And he might end up stumbling into supernatural powers.

and Harper, whose main goal is to use her training in engineering to help her new broken home world thrive!

We’ll be using both Tapas and Webtoons, and it will be ongoing and available for FREE [there will be links if you wanna support us and the comic, but I'll post those with the rest of the links]. Summary: You can do whatever you please and be whoever you want on the Internet. And San knew that a little bit too well.
After finally following all the signs the universe was throwing at him, he started living a double life that no one was aware of. Everyone in his daily life knew him as Choi San, the reserved and quiet boy who wouldn't raise his voice, and would barely communicate with anyone outside of his comfort group. But only a few knew him as Soundleasure, the man with a sexy voice and a filthy mind that had their toes curling just with his narrations.
He never thought of the possibility of those two lives ever meeting, he had always tried for them to follow a parallel route and had always played safe to keep his friends from ever suspecting that side even existed. But his plans will start to crumble when he gets a little too close with one of his subscribers and she invades his real-self and altergo's universes without being able to stop it.
Y/n will not only help him to keep his secret from his circle, but will also show him there's more of Soundleasure in him than he'd like to admit.

Years had a way of adding quiet resilience to life, and for Y/n, that resilience had blossomed into something extraordinary. She leaned back in her chair, gazing out over the city from her office -a corner suite with floor-to-ceiling windows that offered a view of the skyline she'd worked so hard to reach. Her name, now etched on the company's door, replaced her father's and now held weight in an industry she'd grown to respect and shape. Being named leader had been a victory she once might have thought out of reach, yet now, she wore it with confidence, having earned every inch of ground beneath her feet.
The office door opened, and a familiar presence slipped in. San was there, still dressed in his work jacket, the insignia of his team's department neatly embroidered on his pocket. He now led the engineering team, a promotion he'd humbly accepted with a knowing smile -a smile that still made her heart race.
—Have time for a break, CEO? —he asked, eyes glinting with the same mischievous warmth she'd come to know all too well. He slid a takeaway coffee across her desk, precisely the way she liked it, and leaned against the edge of her desk.
Y/n looked up at him, a grin playing on her lips after she gave a quick glance to the ring on the finger on his left hand.
—Only if my chief engineer is joining me.
—Honestly, husband sounds way better —he complained, eyebrows slightly frowning while his lips pursed.
—I know —she giggled.
Their wedding picture on the upper right corner of her table confirmed it for her.
—I just came to check on you —he said with a chuckle, lifting his own coffee—. There's a project presentation this afternoon with my team. I swear, if I have to explain circuit integration one more time...
—I'm paying you for that —she joked, earning a roll of his eyes—. You're the only one who explains it well, so it actually makes sense —she reached out to straighten the collar of his jacket.
They sat in comfortable silence, sipping their coffee, as the office settled into its steady hum around them. Those small moments in the middle of their busy lives had become their grounding force. They worked alongside each other every day now, often passing in hallways or brushing shoulders in meeting rooms. But San was always there, a solid presence and her closest confidant. Together, they'd found balance, each thriving in their own way.
San cleared his throat, breaking the quiet.
—I was thinking... maybe after the presentation, we could get away for a weekend? Just us. It's been a while.
Y/n's face lit up. They had built a life filled with responsibility and ambition, but those moments where they simply were -no titles, no pressure- had become the highlights of every year. And while they tried to get the most out of those little moments, they knew soon it'd be impossible for them to get them.
—I'd love that —she replied softly—. Just say where, and I'm on your truck with two suitcases.
He reached for her hand, his thumb tracing gentle circles over her knuckles.
—We've come a long way, haven't we?
—It's been crazy —she nodded—. I still can't believe all of this started because of a text —she laughed—. Feels like a lifetime ago.
Felt like a lifetime ago, and thinking deep about it, it had already been ten years since their bond became stronger after that incident in the hospital.
San's smile softened.
—Well, I wouldn't change a single thing —he grimaced—. I just can't believe all of this is due to those porn videos. Should we tell Savannah?
—Let's not... By the way, Savannah? —she looked almost offended by that name— Always thinking of names, and that's the one you chose?
—I like it —he shrugged.
—Try again.
—Georgia? That was Wooyoung's pick.
She shook her head again, almost showing off how disgusted she was by that option.
—We'll have time to come up with one name —she assured him.
—Not this weekend though. This weekend will only be ours. No kids' names, no families, no friends, no work.
Just as he said it, the phone on her desk buzzed. Her assistant's voice came through, reminding her of the afternoon meeting. Y/n sighed, squeezing his hand once more before standing, San following suit, moving a little bit faster to be able to help her get up from her place. Despite her clothes getting baggier, the belly bump was getting more evident every day.
As they walked toward the door, she turned to him.
—I know I'm pregnant, but I still can walk.
—I know, but I like taking care of my wife and my -still without a name- daughter.
Y/n rolled her eyes this time, trying to hide the smile that was starting to form on her face after he pronounced those words. They sounded so good with his voice...
—I think it'll be a good idea for you to come to the meeting as well —she suggested—. I'll be missing for a few days when I give birth, so it'll be good for you to know about those things in case something comes up. And, even after I recover, I think it’ll be nice for one of us to be here while the other stays home with the baby.
San nodded, his gaze filled with a quiet pride and a love that had only deepened over the years, accepting how she kept involving him in the company matters.
—Whatever my baby wants —he whispered, leaning in for a quick kiss before he pushed the door with his free hand, while the other remained on her shoulders.
And as Y/n walked back into her conference room, shoulders straight, head held high, she couldn't help but feel a wave of gratitude. They were right where they were meant to be: leading together, side by side -two halves of a whole. Ready to keep building the future they'd fought so hard to create, ready to form that family they were dreaming of creating, ready to confront all the obstacles and spend all of their lives together through everything.

Introducing my mlp abridged series characters!!
Ft. some doodles that I made around 2 am
If I don’t talk about them to someone, I will explode
I’ve had this series idea in my head for a while now! I have a lot to say about it, but I’ll focus on characters here, since I’ve changed quite a bit in the plot department compared to the original show.

Twilight Sparkle
Wants to become an alicorn more than anything
Will do anything the Princess says for a chance at becoming one
Given immortality as a reward for her loyalty
Very important in Canterlot because of her connection to the Princess
The Princess is the only authority she respects 
Doesn’t want to be in Ponyville
Tired of this shit
Very similar to other abridged series versions
Spike the dragon
Twilight and Spike are friends and enjoy each others company
Spike keeps Twilight somewhat grounded
Has the same sense of humor as Twi
Rainbow Dash
Old timey military American accent
Was a Wonderbolt but was forced to retire
Constantly talking about her past adventures or her time in the academy
Rarity
Posh accent - so basically the same
Always seems to know more than she lets on
Uses her generosity to butter up ponies into doing what she wants
Showers Twilight with praise and gifts since she’s from Canterlot/works with the Princess
Hates Canterlot with a burning passion
Has a master plan to overthrow the Princess and rule herself
Pinkie Pie
Transgender mare /affectionate
Used to work in Canterlot as a scientist/engineer
Moved to Ponyville to discover herself and is the most happy she’s ever been
A large part of the community and they all love her
Very bubbly and smart
Applejack
Has beef with Twilight, likes to annoy her in anyway she can
Speaks fluent Spanish, and speaks it in a southern accent to annoy ponies
Has loads of outlandish theories that she shares with anyone that will listen
Casually chaotic
Fluttershy
The one that makes fandom references, and references other abridged series
Isn’t actually good with animals, only moved into the cottage because it has the best internet connection and is cheap
Somehow knows about mlp:fim and is a fan but doesn’t draw connections to her friends and the characters
Cottage came with all the animals, so she is working on handling and caring for them better

Applebloom
Takes everything way too seriously
Wants to make the world a better place, but doesn’t have the resources since she is a child
Concerned about the government
Makes “grand plans” that she takes too seriously and ropes her friends into helping her
Scootaloo
An orphan, newsies, New York accent
Basically down down for anything
Voice of reason while also being incredibly supportive of any plan Applebloom comes up with
Lives with her lesbian aunts
Sweetie Belle
Just happy to be included
Cheerful, doesn’t talk much
A very neglected child
Her friends like having her around
“…and I’m Sweetie Belle!!” :D
I have a lot of ideas for these characters! I even have ideas for character progression, where the annoyance the characters feel for each other turns to friendship.
The name I have currently for this project is: The Alicorns Abridged Series or AAS Since so much of the plot is around becoming an alicorn or about the alicorns. But I might change the name in the future we'll see

Fuck Chromium (and that includes Brave and Vivialdi)
I have made multiple posts about why you should use Firefox, and of course I get the reply "not all chromium browsers are bad, they are not all as evil as Chrome." And sure, browsers who use the chromium code are not required to do all the shady things that Google does with it.
Still, I think it's bad that chromium-based browsers are getting close to total market dominance. By this point it has made Google's competitors like Microsoft and Opera drop their own unique proprietary browser engines for chromium. Browsers are becoming a fucking monoculture at this point. And Chromium becoming the browser code base of choice empowers Google, since they are the ones who mainly develop, maintain and fund its code. It means supporting them in their quest to become an internet monopoly that can do things like drm the web itself.
So let me be clear: you are still supporting google by using chromium-based browsers. By helping out in making chromium the de facto standard for browsers, you are giving google power. They are the ones driving chromium development, they will set the standards. And those standards will be in Google's favor. They are an ad company, their goal is to kill off adblockers by making them impossible to use, first with manifest v3 for extensions and now WEI, their web drm.
Brave is a joke.
The supposed "good guy" chromium browsers people recommend are actually shady as shit.
The one i see recommended the most is Brave, and it's fucking terrible. For one thing, it is funded by right-wing techbro Brendan Eich. He was Mozilla CEO for some time, but then people found he was a massive homophobe who funded campaigns against marriage equality, and Mozilla forced him to resign. And that's why he created Brave. That's who you are supporting by using Brave.
It runs off chromium because that's the easy and lazy choice for a browser. And it's literally funded through cryptocurrency, probably the negative environmental impact is a plus in Eich's book. And its adblocker runs off the same dishonest business model as adblock plus does, it will not block ads if advertisers pay them for the privilege. This betrayal of the users is opt-in at least, and you get paid for watching ads, but it's in the aforementioned worthless crypto beans. Brave is a joke.
Vivaldi and the importance of open-source
And then there's Vivaldi, it's a freeware proprietary browser run by a for-profit company, which alone should scare you off it.
"If you aren't paying for it, you are not the customer, you are the product" is a phrase that sometimes unfairly gets applied to open source projects to dismiss them. If it's open source and either community-run or run by a non-profit foundation like the Open document foundation for Libreoffice and or the Mozilla foundation for Firefox/Thunderbird, you are safe even if it's free.
But that phrase 100% applies to free products from for-profit corporations. These companies need to make profits at some point for for their shareholders, and if it is not from selling goods or services, it comes from things like selling your user's data or "attention".
That applies to Vivaldi, who makes big promises about how they will respect their users privacy and never sell their data. But promises mean nothing, Google also says they respect your privacy. And the thing is, Vivaldi is closed source. Not entirely, ironically the bits they got from Google's chromium are open source, but other parts of their code is closed-source. And what that means is, they can make any and all promises about what their browser's code does and there is nobody except Vivaldi that can check if their code actually fulfils those promises. Only Vivaldi has access to that code.
I'm no open-source fanatic, like I don't care if some random game i install and play is closed-source, as long as it is from a credible developer. But open-source is important for security and privacy, because that means someone else other than the company who develops the program can vet it's code for vulnerabilities and privacy violations. Your browser and e-mail client (vivaldi has an e-mail client too) should be open-source for your own safety, because those programs handle sensitive data like your passwords or your e-mails. Closed-source is not more secure, since Kerckhoff's principle applies to digital security and privacy.
And Vivaldi by being proprietary software fails that test. Their own justification is that being closed-source is "their first line of defense, to prevent other parties from taking the code and building an equivalent browser (essentially a fork) too easily." It's the same hypocritical argument that Red Hat used to justify making their Enterprise Linux distro closed-source. "It's fine if we use chromium's code to build our own browser, and expressly for making an Opera clone (that's the literal point of Vivaldi, that's why the name is a music reference), but if someone does the same with our product, they're evil." It's nauseating and alone justification to distrust Vivaldi as it is crying out to be trusted.
Listen to some Antonio Vivaldi instead, his music slaps. And install Firefox and Thunderbird instead.

I was wondering if you could explain how the Matrix actually... works? Is it more like a Time Lord artificial afterlife, or just a collection of knowledge? Do you ask your dead housekeeper for her cookie recipe, or do you just access it like Google?
Absolutely!
How does the Matrix work?
Think about Wikipedia.
Now, imagine if Wikipedia had detailed profile pages of every single member of the human race that had lived since its inception in 2001 (around 7.5~ billion individual, heavily detailed profiles).
Then, imagine each profile page had a little downloadable file that was that person's consciousness.
Next, think about how every person's knowledge gained in their life is spread throughout that Wikipedia on every single subject.
Now, think, 'What if Wikipedia had a plugin that could tell you future events based on all the information it has from all these people's experiences?'
Finally, put all this into a cool little weird video game that uses virtual reality.
If you can imagine that, you're pretty close.
💻 Functions of the Matrix
Knowledge Repository: The Matrix acts as an archive, containing the lived histories and profiles of every Time Lord that's lived, and all the knowledge they gained in their life.
Quick Updates: Living Time Lords are biologically connected to the Matrix, able to access the information at will (except if you've been a bad Time Lord, of course). When they die the Matrix automatically creates their profile page when they die, so their entire life goes to the Time Lord Wiki for the benefit of all.
Simulated Reality: If entered, the environment is a simulated reality where the personalities of deceased Time Lords can continue to exist. This can make it seem like a kind of artificial afterlife where you could potentially interact with past or future incarnations of Time Lords.
Predictive Tool: The Matrix generates prophecies and foresees potential futures, guiding Time Lords in making informed decisions about potential timelines.
Physical and Astral Projection: Time Lords can also use the Matrix to project their images across spacetime or within the confines of a TARDIS, communicating across vast distances or even between different temporal phases. Isn't that handy?
🔐 Security and Integrity
Despite its advanced capabilities, the Matrix isn't infallible. It can be tampered with, and its data can be manipulated or stolen, which is considered a helluva crime on Gallifrey. The Matrix also uses various safeguards, like Cloister Wraiths and living fibre optic cables that act like firewalls to protect its most critical data.

Access to the Matrix varies; it can be through physical terminals, via direct neural connections, or by using artefacts. Once inside, users can navigate a realm where physical laws are malleable and where their thoughts can shape reality because anything is possible.

In practical terms, if you're deadset on finding that cookie recipe, the Matrix could definitely provide access to that knowledge, either by allowing you to interact with the housekeeper's stored personality or by just retrieving the information like a search engine. Alternatively, you could shirk your holiday in Disneyland and jump right into the Matrix to spend a day being attacked by virtual blancmanges and Victoria sponges until you find what you need.

It is water resistant, transportable and can charge up to 24 phones per day. It’s the BeeHive, a new phone-charging station created by the Italian NGO One Bridge To-, OBT-, and improved by the collective work of 25 high school students from Verona and the organisation FABlab.
The generator will make it easier for migrants in the Balkans to recharge their phones on their way to the European Union.
“The project was born during Covid, in late 2020,” OBT-’s Pietro Albi, who developed the first prototype, told BIRN. “The first Beehives were brought to Serbia in March 2021, to Sid, Subotica and Belgrade, and distributed to local organisations and NGOs working on the fields”.
The 25 students participated voluntarily in off-school hours, willingly deciding to spend their afternoons improving the BeeHive. After a theoretical workshop about the “Balkan Route” taken by migrants to Europe, the lack of legal pathways to Europe and the reality of migration, they focused on technical aspects like 3D printing, laser cutting and assembling the electrical parts.
The first BeeHive model used a bike engine to recharge phones and weighed around 20kg. The new one, created in collaboration with the students, weighs only around 3kg and uses lithium batteries, which are lighter and more efficient.
The name BeeHive refers to the shape of the generator, which recalls artificial beehives, but also hints at the idea of a safe space – a literal charging station where migrants can recharge their phones while taking a rest from the challenges and violence of taking the Balkan Route.
“The project also allows us to help students realise that what they hear regarding migrants and refugees and the reality of things are really different,” OBT-’s Serena Zuanazzi told BIRN.
“In Europe people often claim that the fact that migrants have a phone is a clear sign that they’re not really refugees in need. The reality instead is that phones are crucial for people on the move, as they need them to communicate with the families back home, with other people that are travelling with them, but also to orientate and keep on travelling.
“They are [also] used more and more to document the violence that people on the move experience, and become a tool to denounce human rights abuses,” she said.
Currently there are five old models of the BeeHive in Serbia, one of the new ones in Bosnia and two in Trieste, the arrival point for migrants taking the Balkan Route, in Italy. New ones will be distributed shortly in Greece, France and other locations in Italy.
“We already have plans to update the current model with a WiFi hotspot that will allow people to connect to the internet even from remote locations and other improvements. If NGOs and organisations working on the ground can use the BeeHive to support people on the move, they can reach out to us, so we can plan the production and the delivery,” Albi concluded.

Hello! This is a blog specifically dedicated to image transcriptions. My main blog is @mollymaclachlan.
For those who don't know, I used to be part of r/TranscribersOfReddit, a Reddit community dedicated to transcribing posts to improve accessibility. That project sadly had to shut down, partially as a result of the whole fiasco with Reddit's API changes. But I miss transcribing and I often see posts on Tumblr with no alt text and no transcription.
So! Here I am, making a new blog. I'll be transcribing posts that need it when I see them and I have time; likely mainly ones I see on my dashboard. I also have asks open so anyone can request posts or images.
I have plenty of experience transcribing but that doesn't mean I'm perfect. We can always learn to be better and I'm not visually impaired myself, so if you have any feedback on how I can improve my transcriptions please don't hesitate to tell me. Just be friendly about it.
The rest of this post is an FAQ, adapted from one I posted on Reddit.
1. Why do you do transcriptions?
Transcriptions help improve the accessibility of posts. Tumblr has capabilities for adding alt-text to images, but not everyone uses it, and it has a character limit that can hamper descriptions for complex images. The following is a non-exhaustive list of the ways transcriptions improve accessibility:
They help visually-impaired people. Most visually-impaired people rely on screen readers, technology that reads out what's on the screen, but this technology can't read out images.
They help people who have trouble reading any small, blurry or oddly formatted text.
In some cases they're helpful for people with colour deficiencies, particularly if there is low contrast.
They help people with bad internet connections, who might as a result not be able to load images at high quality or at all.
They can provide context or note small details many people may otherwise miss when first viewing a post.
They are useful for search engine indexing and the preservation of images.
They can provide data for improving OCR (Optical Character Recognition) technology.
2. Why don't you just use OCR or AI?
OCR (Optical Character Recoginition) is technology that detects and transcribes text in an image. However, it is currently insufficient for accessibility purposes for three reasons:
It can and does get a lot wrong. It's most accurate on simple images of plain text (e.g. screenshots of social media posts) but even there produces errors from time to time. Accessibility services have to be as close to 100% accuracy as possible. OCR just isn't reliable enough for that.
Even were OCR able to 100%-accurately describe text, there are many portions of images that don't have text, or relevant context that should be placed in transcriptions to aid understanding. OCR can't do this.
"AI" in terms of what most people mean by it - generative AI - should never be used for anything where accuracy is a requirement. Generative AI doesn't answer questions, it doesn't describe images, and it doesn't read text. It takes a prompt and it generates a statistically-likely response. No matter how well-trained it is, there's always a chance that it makes up nonsense. That simply isn't acceptable for accessibility.
3. Why do you say "image transcription" and not "image ID"?
I'm from r/TranscribersOfReddit and we called them transcriptions there. It's ingrained in my mind.
For the same reason, I follow advice and standards from our old guidelines that might not exactly match how many Tumblr transcribers do things.
